RX Acres Belgians is a business specializing in the breeding and training of Belgian draft horses.
Dris Abraham started the business in December of 1996 by purchasing 3 Belgian mares. Since that time RX Acres has grown. We currently have 13 breeding mares. Over the years, Dris has hauled livestock, broke and trained mares, as well as shown livestock. Dris is the Chief Operating Officer at Historic Prophetstown where all the farm work is done with his Belgian mares. He teaches three draft horse farming and driving clinics a year and in 2007 has surpassed over 300 students. Prior to coming to Historic Prophetstown in 2002, Dris was the Director of Agriculture at Hale Farm and Village in Ohio.
Melissa Brown met Dris while attending Purdue University. In the spring of 2004 she started working for him at Historic Prophetstown. She mucked stalls, groomed, and drove the mares. Now with a degree in Animal Science, she is the Manager of Agricultural Operations at Historic Prophetstown and has taken over the breeding and foaling at RX Acres.
